Congrats to Mehran for her Recent Win!

Congratulations Mehran Sorourian, founder of Empowering conversationZ for winning the Area 11 International Speech Contest held on Saturday, Feb18th, 2023.

Toastmasters International Speech Contest is an annual public speaking competition organized by Toastmasters International, a non-profit educational organization that helps people improve their communication, public speaking, and leadership skills. The competition starts at the club level, where members compete against each other to win the title of Club Champion. The winners then advance to the Area, Division, and District levels, where they compete with other winners to represent their district at the World Championship of Public Speaking, held during the Toastmasters International Convention.

The competition was held on zoom, and Mehran represented the DelMar Toastmasters club after competing against 7 seasoned speakers: Martin Kent, Emmy award-winning short film producer, Alan Myers, radio show host, Bob Ransome, Andrew Salisbury, Jess Reimnitz, and Steve Jaski held in-person on Nov11th,2022.

Kaaren Henderson, the president of DelMar Toastmasters club, one of the most prestigious Toastmasters clubs in southern California, send an email following Mehran's win to the club members congratulating Mehran and the club:

"Mehran was one of four contestants from clubs located in Area 11, including North Coast Toastmasters, Professional Toastmasters, Encinitas Toastmasters, and Del Mar Toastmasters. All contestants have won their club-level contest. The area contest was held on Zoom on Saturday, February 18.

The Zoom speech contest was well-attended by many Del Mar members, including Trish Jensen-Maier, Nancy Novak, Kaaren Henderson, Julie Union, and others. Mehran did a flawless job of improving and delivering the winning speech she'd given during our in-house speech contest. She faced very tough competition, including Terri Price, the president of the Encinitas Toastmaster club.

Congratulations to Mehran...she won the Area 11 International Speech Contest with her speech titled, "The Most Important Sound."

Following her win Fabiola, a toastmaster, congratulated Mehran on making the club proud. She continued to say

"You represent us Immigrant women with power, elegance, and intelligence. Thanks for that!" Fabiola

Although this is a great achievement and a testament to Mehran's hard work, dedication, and public speaking skills. Mehran believes winning the past two competitions boosted her confidence to a new level and taught her many valuable speaking skills, which she is teaching her clients.

Mehran remains grateful to her club and her tribe of mentors and supporters for this opportunity and promises to work hard on improving her skills to win the next level. She hopes to bring awareness and a positive impact on the lives of her listeners with each speech she delivers.

Congratulations again on your achievement, Mehran!
